Drake has confirmed that his ninth studio album, Iceman, will arrive on May 15, marking his first solo project since 2023’s For All the Dogs. The rapper had been hinting at the release since 2024, but only recently locked in the official date.

The rollout included a creative stunt in Toronto, where blocks of ice concealed the album’s release date. Fans attempted to break them open, and streamer Kishka ultimately uncovered the hidden reveal before authorities shut things down later that day.  .

Drake has teased Iceman as far back as early 2024, including references to Iceman and glimpses of a music folder labeled “2.0 – Iceman.” By mid-2025, he began previewing material through a YouTube series titled “Iceman Episode 1,” where he debuted tracks like “What Did I Miss?” along with “Which One” and “Dog House.” These songs have since been released on streaming platforms.

The new music comes after a turbulent period in Drake’s career, including his very public feud with Kendrick Lamar. Their long-running rivalry escalated in 2023 when Lamar released “Not Like Us,” which went on to win multiple Grammys and became a major cultural flashpoint. Drake later filed a lawsuit against Universal Music Group over the track’s promotion, though the case was dismissed.

Since his last solo effort, Drake has stayed active with a mix of releases, including a large batch of unreleased material and a 2025 collaboration with PartyNextDoor titled Some Sexy Songs 4 U, which featured the hit “Nokia.” One of its tracks, “Somebody Loves Me,” even earned a Grammy nomination.
